Things To Do Around Pennsylvania

September 5th, 2016

Labor Day has come and gone, the kids are back in school and it’s just about time to go out and enjoy some fall weather in our historic state. Here are some Family Trip in Abbottstown PA weekend destinations you can consider!

--For the car nut in your family, Allentown’s America on Wheels museum is loaded with the cars, trucks, motorcycles and bicycles that made us into a mobile and active society.

--Spend a day at the Carnegie Science Center in Pittsburgh and enjoy more than 400 hands-on exhibits, a four-story IMAX theater, an interactive planetarium and three live demonstration theaters. You can even explore a Cold War-era submarine moored outside on the Ohio River!

-- Between the Manatawny and Ironstone Creeks is the Secret Valley…a place of breathtaking beauty and mystery. The family can take a trip on the Colebrookdale Railroad, a steam-train excursion that takes you through the heart of the Secret Valley on a Civil War-era railroad line.

--Gettysburg’s Dobbin House Tavern was built in 1776 and went on to become a stop on the Underground Railroad, as well as the site of Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address. This historic inn offers great food and an unforgettable historic experience.

--Crystal Cave lies deep underground Kutztown and is a great family or field trip destination. You and your family can tour the cavern, pan for gemstones, picnic or play miniature golf…and even take a Halloween “ghost” lantern tour in October!
